A significant contribution by businessman jp mcmanus to limerick boat club has enabled the city centre club to commence the replacement of its roof which was destroyed by storm darwin in. Thanks to a significant contribution from the jp mcmanus benevolent fund the limerick boat club can get back in full action with a new boathouse roof. An online fundraising campaign has been established to help cover the 100 000 costs of installing a new roof on limerick boat club which was destroyed by storm darwin in february 2014. On 12 february 2014 the club achieved worldwide notoriety when the roof was peeled off the boat house in a violent storm.

Windows have been re installed upstairs in recent years and in the past few months the building has been fully insulated.
